Horse Float Maintenance / Warranty Conditions
Preventative maintenance and care is the key to keep your float looking like new.
By following the basic checks listed below you can keep your float looking great and in good running order and ensure you meet our warranty conditions.
12 Volt Power If your float is fitted with a kitchen area/12-volt pump then this is powered from Pin 2 on your trailer plug unless you purchased the Auxiliary Battery pack for your new float in which case the pack will be charged by an Anderson connection on the front of your float or a trailer battery an associated equipment or solar panel
.
Tyre Pressure Our recommended tyre pressure for your new horse float is 45psi
JOCKEY WHEELS Please note the jockey wheel is NOT for moving your float around on. It is purely to lift the float up and down off your vehicle. Trying to move the float on the jockey wheel will result in permanent damage to your jockey wheel which will not be covered by warranty. Also be sure not to over extend the jockey wheel when attaching to your vehicle.
Rubber Flooring The floor and walls in the horse area of your float is protected by 10 mm thick rubber. It is important that this be kept well maintained. Once a month check for signs of wear or any damage to the sealed edges of the floor. If your horse damages the walls or floor these must be attended to immediately. If you see any wear or gaps in the sealed edges these must be resealed immediately. Failure to do so could result in water getting into your floor causing damage which will not be covered by warranty.
Keep your float clean inside urine and manure must be cleaned out after every use and not left in the float for extended periods of time. All walls and surfaces should be kept in good clean order.
Outside Care Your new float has an automotive style paint finish which it is important to maintain. Keep the float clean on the outside and for longevity try and wax the float once every two months with a good quality wax such as Juice Polish Speed Wax.
Storage of Float Our climate is one of the hardest around. High UV is the main cause of this. To keep your float looking like new the best thing is to store the float undercover when possible. If this is not possible then a float cover is the next best option to keeping your float in good order and insuring your float is washed regularly.
Kitchen Door Latches All our doors have adjustable door hinges and adjustable latches. Periodically check the latches for lubrication and if a little stiff a little Lithium spray grease will rectify this and insure the adjustments is tight.
External Latches All our recessed external door handles are adjustable. Should you find they need tightening or loosening there are nuts either side of the latch you can use to adjust it in or out. You will need a 17mm spanner to do this but it is a very simple and easy job to do.
Windows and roof vents It is important to check your float for any water leaks that may appear due to movement of the float and normal wear and tear. If a water leak is found it is important to rectify this straight away to avoid any damage to the paintwork or structure of your float.
Bearings Servicing of your bearings is an important part of maintaining your new horse float. Lubrication is an important factor in bearing maintenance. Maintaining your bearings involves having a licensed mechanic or service person periodically removing, cleaning, inspecting and greasing the bearings with high temperature / pressure grease. We recommend that bearing maintenance be completed every 12 months or every 6 months if travelling long distances and over severe conditions. Failure to observe these recommendations may result in bearing failure and warranty claims being denied.
Electric Brakes and Drums The electric brake and drum maintenance should be carried out in conjunction with the bearing maintenance. Brake pads need to be checked for wear and adjustment may be required. Again this should be carried out by a licensed mechanic or service person.
Suspension Your float is equipped with roller rocker suspension which is designed to give your horse a comfortable ride and share load. The suspension incorporates 4 rollers that must be checked at least once a year. If these rollers become worn or damaged they must be replaced. The suspension on your new horse float or trailer also has greaseable pins that the rollers run on. There are also 3 grease nipples on each side of the trailer that need to be maintained. This should be done at the same time that you are having your horse float or trailer serviced. All U bolts should be checked and tightened if required.
Breakaway device - The trailer is fitted with an emergency breakaway system, which incorporates a battery that must be connected to the towing vehicle trailer plug (number 2 pin) to ensure the battery is charged. The battery must be check regularly to ensure the battery is fully charged and must be replaced as required. The breakaway mechanism must also, at all times be attached appropriately to the towing vehicle.
Failure to maintain and service your horse float following the recommendations outlined above may result in damage to critical components of your horse float or trailer and may result in warranty claims
